      My WATCHOUT 7 upgrade code looks empty. What should I do?

      After extracting license codes from WATCHOUT 7, the upgrade file does not look correct.

       

      The electronic upgrade can only be performed on version 6 micro keys with serial numbers of 3-344xxxx or higher.
      If your license fulfill all requirements, but your codes miss the long alfa-numeric code after the “data”: field (please refer to the picture in THIS article for the example of the right code) you should try to update the license firmware.


      Here's how:

      1. Plug the license into computer with internet access and CodeMeter Control Center installed (CodeMeter Control Center is part of WATCHOUT 7 installer, you can download it directly from the Wibu website as well: https://www.wibu.com/support/user/user-software.html)

      2. Open the CodeMeter Control Center

      3. Click the round arrow on the right "Update firmware of selected dongles" and wait until the update is successfully done. 

      4. Open WATCHOUT 7
      5. Try to extract the code from those licenses one more time

      5. Try to extract the code from those licenses one more time


      All older WATCHOUT versions, or keys that electronic upgrade is not possible to perform on, can be upgraded by a physical swap.
