Known Issue: Capture Device Freeze with Multiple Instances (7.7.x)
Known Issue: Capture Device Freeze with Multiple Instances (7.7.x)
Affected Versions:
-
WATCHOUT 7.7.0
-
WATCHOUT 7.7.1
Not affected: WATCHOUT 7.6.3 and earlier.
Symptom
When you place 3 or more cues referencing the same capture device (live input) on the same display machine, all instances of that feed freeze after 3-4 seconds. Reducing to 2 instances resolves the issue immediately.
- No error messages or warnings are displayed
-
Affects all capture types: NDI, local capture cards (Magewell, Datapath), SDI input
-
The issue is per-display-machine - using the same input on different machines is fine
Status Confirmed and reproducible by Dataton. The issue is on the bug fix list and will be resolved in a future update.
Workaround
-
Stay on WATCHOUT 7.6.3 for setups requiring 3+ instances of the same live input on one machine.
-
Alternatively, limit to 2 instances maximum per capture source per display machine.
